Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Iceland Welcome to Iceland, on arrival in Reykjavik, Capital city of Iceland a local representative will be waiting at airport to take you to the hotel. check in at hotel, relax at hotel, you have some free time to explore nearby pubs, shops, etc., make sure to wear warm clothes! |
Day 2: Lava Cave, Hot Springs, and Borgarfjörður Waterfalls Tour Today you will travel west to the historic area of Borgarfjörður, a region that can be regarded as the setting for most of the Icelandic sagas. First, visit the charming Glanni Waterfall and Deildartunguhver Geothermal Area. Afterward, you will see the great Hraunfossar, a series of waterfalls spread at a distance of around 900 meters. The waters flow out of the Hallmundarhraun, a lava field that was formed around 1,000 years ago during a massive eruption of a volcano lying under a Langjökull glacier. Rivulets streaming from the lava field create one of the most breath-taking views in Iceland, and just a few meters away, you will find another interesting waterfall. The highlight of the tour is a visit to a colorful Vidgelmir lava cave. Just shy of 1,600 meters in length, the cave features amazing colors and lava formations that lurk in the depths of the earth. The area surrounding the entrance to the cave will allow you to realize just how powerful eruptions of volcanoes can be. Lastly, visit the Reykholt historic site where you can learn about the history of Iceland and see Snorralaug, small hot spring used by local people since the 12th century. |
Day 3: Golden Circle: This tour takes you on a day trip to see the Geysir, Gullfoss and Thingvellir National Park. Stop At: Thingvellir National Park, Thingvellir Iceland You will spend your time encountering a cross-section of Iceland's natural wonders and geological phenomena at Thingvellir National Park, an area of historical and geological significance. Stop At: Geysir, Geysir, South Region The Geysir geothermal area boasts spouting springs, including Strokkur, the most active geyser in Iceland. Stop At: Gullfoss Falls, 846, Iceland At Gullfoss you are given the opportunity to stand next to the amazing waterfall, watching enormous quantities of water tumble violently into a deep, meandering gorge. |
Day 4: South Iceland Stop At: Skogafoss, Skogar Iceland Immense waterfall with great views from ground level or from above which can be reached via a winding series of steps and staircases. You will experience great views from both viewing perspectives. Stop At: Solheimajokull Glacier, Vik Iceland Take a brisk walk alongside a glacial lagoon towards Sólheimajökull glacier, a breathtaking and ancient glacier set in a stupendous landscape. See the real-life impact of climate change here with the glacier retreating increasingly rapidly year on year. Touch the glacier ice! Stop At: Reynisfjara Beach, Route 215, Vik Iceland Iceland´s most beautiful and famous black sand beach has wonderful views of the coastline with Reynisdrangar sea columns in the distance. A massive cliff and cave comprised of amazing geometric shapes stands on this beach. Listen to your guide and beware the infamous creeper waves. Stay dry and stay safe. Stop At: Vik, Vik, South Region Lunch stops in the picturesque village of Vík. Lunch is not included. Stop At: Seljalandsfoss, Hella Iceland The stunning waterfall may just be Iceland´s most photographed and revered. Talk the winding pathway behind the falls to see it from all sides. Stop At: Capital Region, Capital Region After your Southern Iceland tour, you have a few hours to yourself in Reykjavík for rest and relaxation. Then the second part of your day begins with our evening Northern Lights tour. We go far beyond the city light pollution in search of clear skies and the shimmering, wavy lights of the aurora. |
Day 5: Snæfellsnes National Park The Snæfellsnes peninsula in the West of Iceland is almost like a miniature version of the entire island. The area has beautiful samples of some of the natural wonders Iceland is so famous for. This includes black beaches, magnificent mountains, volcanic craters, incredible birdlife, magical caves, and of course, the most picturesque glacier of them all, Snæfellsjökull. This tour stops at the small fishing village of Arnarstapi and provides real insight into quintessential volcanic craters. Along the way you’ll get great views of the iconic Kirkjufell mountain and the dark cliffs and black sand of Djúpalónssandur bay are a favourite among photographers. In the middle of this beautiful peninsula sits Snæfellsjökull, the stunning glacier that has captured the imagination of people all over the world, including Jules Verne who began his "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" at Snæfellsjökull glacier. The tour offers numerous views of this beautiful landmark. |
Day 6: The Lava Tunnel & Whale Watching Experience the natural phenomenon of Raufarhólshellir lava tunnels as you explore it in an easy and enjoyable manner. The 1360 metre (4500 ft) tunnel was formed during the Leitahraun eruption, which occurred about 5200 years ago and is a unique Icelandic natural attraction. A guide will lead you through Raufarhólshellir’s colorful landscape where the formation of the tunnel is highlighted with beautiful lighting. The adventure continues as we head to the Old Harbour in downtown Reykjavík for a Whale Watching tour with Special Tours Wildlife Adventures. Experience the wild behavior of the whales in Faxaflói bay while looking for these phenomenal species, including minke whales, harbor porpoises, humpback whales and white-beaked dolphins. |
Day 7: Blue Lagoon tour Soak up in the warm and comfortable Blue Lagoon, one of the wonders of the world, during your visit in Iceland. The Blue Lagoon is one of Iceland's most famous tourist attractions, and considered by many to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, as well as an unmissable part of one´s visit to Iceland. The Blue Lagoon offers a lava and moss filled scenery, state of the art facilities, a unique atmosphere and silica masks that make your skin extra firm, yet incredibly soft! For these reasons and many more, visitors from all over the world visit the Blue Lagoon daily, and many return again and again. After having enjoyed all that, the Blue Lagoon has to offer, you return to Reykjavík. |
